Kat’s story isn’t your typical “I went to a yoga retreat in Bali and found enlightenment” tale. At 17, she found herself in rehab, self-medicating what she later understood to be anxiety and PTSD. “It was there I found yoga. And wow, it changed me.” For the first time, she felt truly connected—to her body, her breath, herself. But stepping into the wider yoga world? That was a different experience.
“I felt intimidated. I didn’t understand the routines, the words, or why my body couldn’t do certain shapes. I felt like I didn’t belong.” Instead of giving up, she trained as a teacher, determined to make yoga accessible to everyone—prisoners, kids, sports teams, anyone who might otherwise feel like an outsider.
Then she turned her attention to the yoga mat industry. On one side, PVC-heavy, earth-polluting mats. On the other, luxe mats priced so high they felt like a members-only pass to an elite club. Yogi Bare was born to be different—an open invitation to yoga, no matter who you are.
